Environmental policy

As part of Hilton chain of hotels, Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands is committed to cut the environmental footprint in half by 2030.

We recognize our critical responsibility to not only protect our local environment but also our planet and to preserve the destinations we operate in for generations to come.

We use the award-winning LightStay system to measure, report and improve our environmental impact and are proud to be a part of the leadership position in fighting climate change as the first major hotel company to establish science-based targets ro reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.

Our focus areas with Hilton LightStay are to measure and manage and to forecast:

  • Energy
  • Water
  • Waste

In addition, as part of the Travel with Purpose goals for 2030 which is our corporate responsibility program and which is supported by LightStay, we also invest in the local community. The Hilton Effect Foundation awards grants to people and organisations that have a positive impact on the local communities Hilton serves. We have in 2021 granted the Tórsbyrgi community in the capial city of Tórshavn by increasing locally produced and sourced food with their greenhouse project.

Through the use of LightStay, every property in Hilton’s portfolio is certified to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management).
